Arnfield Fly Fishery Cafe & Thai Restaurant
About This Spot
Nestled beside the serene reservoir on the edge of Tintwistle, Arnfield Fly Fishery Cafe & Thai Restaurant feels like a calm retreat from the everyday rush. Arriving here, you’re greeted by a gentle rhythm — the quiet splash of water, the rustle of countryside breeze, and the inviting warmth of a space where moments slow down. Whether seated inside or on the decking overlooking the lush greens and shimmering water, the mood stays unhurried and refreshingly natural.
This isn’t just a café or a Thai restaurant; it’s a unique fusion of a welcoming fishing club atmosphere paired with authentic, thoughtfully prepared Thai cuisine. The kitchen leans into vibrant layers of flavour and homely techniques that speak of genuine care — it’s where you might find a heart-shaped serving of rice nestled beside boldly spiced chicken satay skewers, or the comforting warmth of a perfectly balanced Tom Yum soup that settles you into the moment.
The sense of discovery here quietly hums beneath every detail — from the surprising sweetness of a homemade Thai tea to the subtle crunch of fresh prawn crackers that accompany your meal. It’s a place where the passionate skill in the kitchen and the natural beauty just outside your window meld into one whole experience, made even sweeter by the friendly faces behind the counter.
While it embraces a feeling of casual comfort, there’s a thoughtful attention to authenticity throughout — the flavors often remind you of bustling markets and open-air stalls far away, yet delivered with a warmth that feels distinctly local. The outdoor space, buzzing with the occasional visiting dog or basking under soft sunlight, invites you to linger a little longer, letting the peaceful view and honest food weave into your afternoon.
For those who stumble across Arnfield Fly Fishery Cafe & Thai Restaurant after a countryside walk or a quiet moment by the water, it unfolds as one of those rare finds where atmosphere and flavour meet quietly, inviting you to return again just to soak it all in.

Went mushroom foraging today and saw this beautiful hidden cafe! Staff are super warm and friendly. Me and my friend are both very impressed with chef's proper flaming stir-fry skills. Love the the food and the atmosphere. Highly recommended

On a sunny day, a beautiful view over the reservoir overlooking a lot of green countryside as well. The food as quite close to Thai authenticity, strong flavours as well. Green curry chicken and pad see yew noodles were generally good. For the price, service was a bit basic though. Tables weren’t properly cleaned as well on the patio - better effort could be made here. Drinks are good, but expensive (5 GBP each!).

Wow, what a fantastic experience we had yesterday. The food is exceptional, absolutely fantastic. Great choice of meals available, thoroughly authentic Thai cuisine. Great setting by the reservoir, and a lovely view across the water. I can only imagine how lovely it is to sit out on the decking in the warmer months and look across the water. Only disappointment was the lack of alcoholic drinks available but appreciate licensing can be difficult/expensive. There is a £2 surcharge per person if you bring alcoholic beverages with you to consume with your meal. The only criticism I could give the restaurant at all was that the fire which made it very cosy also made it quite warm inside. But that said others in our party said it was a good temperature for them so it may just be me. Will definitely be coming back, and discovered today they do delivery within 4 miles. Thank you for a special meal for my father-in-law's birthday.

Great food, we really enjoyed it after our nearby walk. Dog friendly (at least outside, we didn’t check inside). Only downside is the price, it wasn’t cheap.

Unbelievable Thai food in such a beautiful hidden spot! The staff are all so lovely. The Tom Yum soup was so warming and full of flavour, we’ll be back just for that! The duck massaman and chicken satay skewers were also yummy, really generous portions too.

It’s pretty good! First off, the Thai Green Curry is sooo gooooodddd Oh my genuine god absolute fantastic. The drinks are also really good (I gotta Thai lime soda). The Tom yum is good but don’t get the creamy broth (makes it creamy and loses its Tom yum flavour). Also the Pad Thai is alright but doesn’t have loads of that “pad Thai” flavour. Really good though!!

Little gem in Manchester! Really delicious and authentic Thai food. We tried the Tom Yum Soup, Penang Curry, Pad See Ew Noodles, and the Arnfield wings. All really good. My favorite is probably the chicken wings and the curry. Food is a little more expensive than other cafes, but quality is great. The only complaint I have is they charge for water £3/person, which isn’t very common in the UK.

Food was good. Lovely small place to eat. Unfortunately was heavy rain. It was a beautiful place. Love it and will visit again.
